Is there a Pro Bowl in 2027?

No, Pro Bowl games will no longer take place starting from this 2026 season. The NFL made the announcement they are ending the all-star game (Link may contain spoilers) on August 26 2026. No AFC-NFC match, in tackle or flag, and no skills competitions. Nothin'.

But the honor remains. Eighty-eight players will still be named to the Pro Bowl class each season. Visit gameTimesToday.com in February to see which of your favorite players made the 2027 Pro Bowl class.

What happened to the Pro Bowl

The game had been played in some form since the 1930s and rebuilt repeatedly as interest fell: a fantasy-style draft, a return to AFC against NFC, a move off Hawaii, and from 2023 a week of skills events closing with a flag football game.

The league's position is that a selection carries more meaning than an exhibition. The NFL is the first of the four major North American leagues to drop its all-star game outright.

How Pro Bowl selection works now

Selection is unchanged. Fans, players and coaches each vote, and the three groups count equally. No other league combines all three.

What changed is the edges. There are no alternates: the 88 named are the class, and nobody is added when a player withdraws.

When are the Pro Bowl rosters announced?

Fan voting runs from late November into December, and the class is revealed in late December, before the postseason begins.

The players named are brought together in Los Angeles in February, on the traditional Pro Bowl weekend. Flag football events continue around it, including a showcase for the professional flag league the NFL is building, but none of them is an AFC-NFC game.
